The Auburn Tigers have been playing football since the 1892 season and have since claimed 2 national titles (1957 and 2010), 11 conference titles, 7 division titles, posted an all-time winning record of 718-405-47 (.634) and housed 3 Heisman Trophy winners. Replicas of Auburn championship rings have been selling at a moderate pace on eBay thanks to a die-hard, dedicated fan base that does like to collect.
The 1957 Tigers, led by head coach Ralph “Shug” Jordan, posted a 10-0 season record and was awarded the national title by the AP Poll. This award actually came even though they did not play in a single Bowl game. The Coaches Poll however, named Ohio State the national champion. Although the title would leave doubt as to who the actual champion was, the Auburn Tigers would not follow it up for another 53 years.
In the 2010 season, the Tigers went 13-0 for the season and were led by head coach Gene Chizik. They went on to face the South Carolina Gamecocks in the SEC Championship and routed them by a score of 56-17 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. This landed them a shot to face the Oregon Ducks at the Tostitos BCS National Championship Game at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona. Auburn led at the half 16-11 but Oregon quickly pulled back, although not quite enough. Auburn walked away with their 2nd national title in over 50 years and brought the Tigers championship ring home to Alabama. Although the Tigers 22-19 win over the Ducks was a close and nail-biting game, there certainly was no doubt about who won that championship.
