The Carolina Hurricanes are a 41-year-old franchise who started in Boston as the New England Whalers then moved to Hartford in 1974 before settling in Raleigh, NC in 1997. During their existence, the Hurricanes have won three division championships (1999, 2002 and 2006), twoconference championships (2002 and 2006) and one Stanley Cup in 2006. All of their championships came after their flight to North Carolina. The Hurricanes won their first division championship in 1999 after posting a 34-30-18 record in the Southeast division. Their championship status would be short-lived though after the Bruins eliminated them from the playoffs in the first round. They would have a couple of lackluster years until they won both the division championship and the conference championship in 2002, capped off with a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals. The Hurricanes would eventually go on to lose the Stanley Cup that year to the Detroit Red Wings in 5 games. But their first Hurricanes championship ring was well on the way.
In 2006, the Hurricanes won their division with a 52-22-8 record. Carolina would go on to beat Montreal in 6 games and Buffalo in 7 to reach the Stanley Cup Finals for the second time. Their opponents were the Edmonton Oilers. Although the Oilers would give them the biggest run for their money, in the end, the Hurricanes proved to be just to much. The Canes took the Stanley Cup in 7 games and won their first Stanley Cup championship ring in team history.
Despite the limited number of league titles the Hurricanes have to offer, activity on eBay has been fairly high here lately.
