The Kansas Jayhawks are three-time NCAA Basketball national champions (1952, 1988 and 2008) and 25-time conference champions. They made their way through the brackets and beat Kansas State in the Elite 8 and Duke in the Final Four before facing the heavily favored Oklahoma Sooners in the national championship game. The game was very close and in the end Kansas managed to pull out an 83-79 victory over the Sooners to bring home their second JNCAA championship ring.
Under the direction of head coach Bill Self in 2008, the Jayhawks went 37-3 for the season and the tournament. Kansas entered the NCAA tournament as a #1 seed and defeated Davidson College in the Elite 8 and North Carolina in the Final Four before facing the Memphis Tigers. They defeated the Tigers for their third national championship by a score of 75-68 in overtime.
In 2012, the Jayhawks again reached the Final Four.
