The Rangers came out strong after forming and in 1928, their second season, they defeated the Montreal Maroons in five games to take home their first championship. Five years later, the Rangers were led by Bill and Bun Cook to the Stanley Cup finals and defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs, earning them their 2nd Stanley Cup after their first seven years in existence.
Seven years later, after the Rangers came in second place for the season behind the Boston Bruins, they would meet them again in the first round of the playoffs. The Rangers beat the Bruins in six games giving them a bye and advancing them to the Stanley Cup Finals. New York received their third Rangers championship ring after they defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs in six games winning the Stanley Cup.

Led by Mike Keenan, the Rangers plowed through the playoffs defeating the Islanders, the Capitals and the New Jersey Devils before facing the Vancouver Canucks in the finals. Led by an inspiring performance from Mark Messier, the Rangers won the series in seven games and took home their fourth Stanley Cup.
